Marine surveying is a specialized field that requires a vast knowledge of the latest regulations and a thorough understanding of vessel construction. Our team of qualified and
AMSA Accredited surveyors is highly experienced in all aspects of
steel, aluminium, and fibreglass constructed vessels.
A rewrite of the National Law has seen AMSA assume control of all domestic commercial vessels (DCV’s) within Australia. To ensure that your vessel is compliant under the new regulations, it is important to deal with a surveying company who has a clear understanding of the National Law and the implementation of the governing rules set out within the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV). Through Oceanic’s accreditation with AMSA, we are authorised to conduct commercial survey inspections on domestic commercial vessels. Whether overseeing a completely new build, or surveying an existing vessel, we are available for local, national, and overseas appointments as necessary. Nowadays, vessels are becoming increasingly complicated with advanced construction techniques, involved engineering & mechanical systems and modern electronics. Make sure you engage a marine surveyor who is skilled and competent in all aspects of your vessel. During a condition survey the following services are offered:
Hull and structural assessment
Review of engineering systems
Moisture content analysis (fibreglass vessels)
General condition
Non-destructive testing
Sea trial assessment
Insurance surveys: Usually completed at the request of an insurer either to initially gain insurance or to report a claim.
Valuation surveys: Typically prepared on behalf of financial institutions or insurance companies seeking market value.
Owners Representative: When building a new vessel or an existing vessel undergoing a refit, it’s important to engage a surveyor who is competent and familiar with vessel construction. The construction of a vessel is specialised and can be extremely complicated; it is the role of the owner’s representative to ensure that the vessel is being built to the correct specification, is of an acceptable quality, and is compliant with local legislation. This service is particularly important for vessels being built overseas and being imported into Australia.
All survey reports are concise and clear and are prepared in digital format for ease of distribution. With our company’s in house quality assurance system, which is based on ISO 9001, you can rest assured that all services are provided to the highest standard.
Our surveyors are available to work on your project Australia wide and internationally.
